                Recruitment of Operations Manager for Global Aerospace company

                THE CLIENT

                This global leader in smart engineering for extreme environments has been established for 160 years. They have been solving some of the world’s toughest engineering challenges, bringing convenience, safety and security to millions of lives. Civil aerospace accounts for 54% of this groups revenue, with products and sub-system installed on almost every jet airliner, regional aircraft and business jet in service.

                DETAILED SEARCH

                Charteris’s FED division were asked to assist this client with female candidates who had previous Aerospace Engineering experience. This was to compliment the male application they had received to ensure a fair balance of skills. It was important that the shortlist of candidates was able to work across manufacturing to a very high level, ensure appropriate resources to achieve financial and business objectives. Influence, shape and integrate strategies for functional areas and participates in setting a growth strategy for the business that is consistent with corporate goals.

                Our specialist Aerospace division understood the importance of the new position fitting with client’s culture, so provided a face-to-face candidate screening service of all suitable candidates and presented a shortlist to the board.

                INTERVIEW PROCESS

                This was followed by a two-stage interview process with the board with 3 excellent candidates successfully attending interviews. As a result of our thorough research of the market, it was commented that all the candidates who attended the final interview were professional and could have been offered the role.

                RESULTS

                An excellent female Operations manager is joining the team in November.

                 

                4 Senior Renewable Professionals for Irish state-owned business.

                Coillte is a profitable, commercial semi-state company which comprises three main businesses, namely Forestry, Land Solutions and Medite Smartply. Headquartered in Newtownmountkennedy, Co. Wicklow, Coillte has responsibility for 7% of Ireland’s land which amounts to 440,000 Hectares.

                Expansion plans

                Due to expansion the four senior professionals were needed to help deliver future projects.

                Detailed search

                Charteris presented a detailed hiring strategy to the board which included a targeted search campaign, in order to find a shortlist of the best renewable’s professionals for the role. It was important that the shortlist of candidates encompassed a mix of specialist knowledge and experience, and that they’d fit well into the organisation’s culture.

                Our specialist Utilities & Power division understood the importance of the new positions fitting with the client’s culture, so provided a face-to-face candidate screening service of all suitable candidates and presented a shortlist to the board.

                Interview process

                This was followed by two-stage interview process in Ireland, with 12 candidates successfully attending Interviews. As a result of the consultant’s thorough research of the market, it was commented that all the candidates who attended the final interviews were professional and could have been offered the job.

                The results

                Four offers have now gone out and have been accepted, with candidates commencing in October, November and December.

                2 Project Managers – Solar for O & M business, UK

                Our client offers end to end project solutions across Solar O & M, from planning and consultation to turnkey construction.

                Immediate need

                Due to project wins we were approached to find 2 PM’s urgently who could commence on the new project.

                Detailed search

                Charteris discussed the vacancies with the Senior Operations Manager who gave us a detailed job brief, with Interview dates. It was important that they had solar experience and could hit the ground running. Our specialist consultant understood the importance of the new positions fitting with the client’s culture, so provided a face-to-face candidate screening service of all suitable candidates and presented a shortlist to the Operations Manager.

                After the candidate shortlist was submitted 3 candidates were interviewed and two offered the position. Both candidates commence in October 4 weeks after the initial brief was taken.

                Various mid to Senior Level Project, Engineering and Integration roles for a Global Market Leader in Logistics Solutions

                THE CLIENT

                A leading global business supplying value added logistic process automation for airports, warehousing and parcels. The client approached the team after receiving first-hand the type of approach we take with our candidates.

                CHALLENGES

                The client had been looking to fill a number of the positions for some time, working with their own internal recruitment team plus external recruiters. The main issue was finding the right calibre of candidate with a desire to work remotely on site combined with working from their offices so location, skillset (certain skills required are relatively specialised within the UK) and able to adjust between independent and team related working were proving to be a challenge.

                SOLUTIONS

                After meeting with the client, and gaining an in depth understanding of the business, how these roles fit within the structure, the challenges and rewards for the candidates we looked to deliver a unique recruitment strategy as the client had very few competitors that we could look towards. We instead relied on our strong network of candidates plus our extensive database of industry targeted professionals to deliver some much needed new blood into their recruitment process.

                RESULTS

                Several shortlists have been produced across the various roles to meet and exceed the client’s expectations, with appointments to follow.

                The calibre of candidates has been such that new opportunities have arisen to cater for them.

                 

                 

                Financial Director for automated print finishing manufacturer

                THE CLIENT

                We have been recruiting for this global client of a few years, they provide sustainable, high precision automated print finishing technology.

                 

                CHALLENGES

                On our latest exclusive assignment, we were asked to search for a Financial Director who would be taking over from a very successful predecessor who had commenced with the company 25 years ago. They needed to have the right cultural values and operational leadership skills to take the business through their next stage of growth.

                SOLUTIONS

                Charteris Global Search’s executive division, used their knowledge of the company and the marketplace to deliver a short list, that caused a few problems for the client. The client advised we had delivered exactly what they requested.

                RESULTS

                Five candidates were selected and shortlisted with an offer being made, and a new FD commences at the end of May.

                Asset Manager for Renewable and Environmental solutions

                 

                THE CLIENT

                Charteris Global Search completed an assignment for a company who have been a supporter of wind energy since the earliest days of the sector in Ireland in the 1990s.

                 

                CHALLENGES

                Our client was specifically looking to recruit an Asset Manager they had been looking for a few months. The challenges were the professional needed to be based in Ireland, with a considerable amount of experience and understanding of the Wind Industry.

                SOLUTIONS

                Charteris Global Search’s Power division, delivered a bespoke recruitment strategy for this assignment, adopting a full search model, we carried out a targeted approach to various professionals and companies within its network throughout Ireland.

                RESULTS

                Multiple candidates were identified and screened and the top three professionals were duly qualified and presented for interview to the client. An offer was made with the CEO offering his thanks.

                Over and above the client’s brief, Charteris adopted a broader partnership approach. Through engaging in a deeper dialogue around the client’s wider needs and taking into account the overall strategic objective for expansion.  Charteris has now been made a preferred recruiter to this client.

                 

                Senior Leaders for Global Energy Solutions Consultancy

                THE CLIENT

                A Global Energy Solutions consultancy business with 200 employees who, as part of a strategic move, were looking to recruit additional executive senior leaders to help drive their business forward.

                CHALLENGES

                As a global business many challenges were facing this company, cultural, language barriers etc. They were looking for leaders who could help establish their main areas of business in the UK as well as on a wider scale. The brief required the candidates to have backgrounds in Consultancy, Energy Solutions, entrepreneurship, electricity generation, and P & L management.

                SOLUTIONS

                Charteris met and discussed our bespoke search strategy to attract leaders for each role in UK.  Adopting a combined attraction model, we carried out a targeted approach to various professionals within our network and referrals, we used our knowledge of the company to attract the right level of professionals for these positions. We successfully identified key target individuals whom, with the client’s agreement, we approached.

                RESULTS

                As a result of our extensive attraction activity, multiple candidates were identified and screened. Five candidates were duly qualified and presented for second interview to the client.

                The offers were made and accepted for the appointments of, Global Strategy Leader, Head of Energy & Water networks, Head of UK Delivery and Global Head of Smart Grid.

                Over and above the client’s brief, Charteris adopted a broader partnership approach and, in addition to successfully sourcing senior professionals, we are now recruiting on an international basis for the business, as well as supporting lower lever recruitment.                 Search Project for General Manager of UK Engineering Business

                THE CLIENT

                The client was recommended to the team, had been established for 15+ years with a solid reputation across the HV industry.A profitable business that has been growing at around 25% year on year.

                CHALLENGES

                Our client was specifically looking to recruit a General Manager from The West Midlands, Charteris was approached to advise on the best attraction strategy to recruit a strong professional with an entrepreneurial background as well as specific niche experience.

                SOLUTIONS

                Charteris delivered a bespoke recruitment strategy that would attract the right professional, adopting a combined attraction model, Charteris carried out a targeted approach to various professionals and companies within its network throughout the UK.

                The model focussed in particular on recommendations and known professionals to Charteris who were either based locally or who would look at a move to the West Midlands.

                RESULTS

                A shortlist of 4 professionals were interviewed with an offer being made at second stage. One of the candidates who did not get offered the position was re approached and is now head of sales for the same organisation.
